    美国常用口语
            
    1.nothing to write home about没什么特别的
           
    EX: Anne: I heard you ate at the fancy restaurant on the Elm Street. How was it?
           
    Joey: The food's nothing to write home about, but the service is quite good.
           
    2.have no bearing on something与某事没什么关联
          
     EX: Howard: What were you talking about at the meeting? It had no bearing on the issue we discussed.
           
    Jennifer: I think it did. I'll explain it to you later.
           
    3.blow something out of proportion夸大某事的重要性
          
     EX: Vincent: I think I'll have to start the experiment again.
           
    Helen: Wait a second! Don't blow this out of proportion. I didn't say that you needed to redo the whole thing. I just said you need to work more on one part of it.
           
    4.get through to someone把想法传递出去,与某人沟通
           
    EX: Jeff: How can I get through to you? Why won't you believe me?
           
    John: It's not that I don't believe you. It's just that I don't  agree with you.
           
    5.be wiped out极为疲倦
           
    EX: Joey: I'm wiped out. I spent five hours on this assignment.
           
    Allen: I'd be wiped out, too.
           
    6.be stretched out延伸,衣服变形
           
    EX: Kevin: Look! My sweater is all stretched out.
           
    Karen: Did you put it in the washing machine?
           
    Kevin: Yes, I did.
           
    Karen: That's why. You should've washed it by hand.
           
    7.scratch the surface约略带过
           
    EX: Greg: I've told you a little about my trip. But I only scratched the surface because there's so much more to tell.
           
    Judy: That's OK. You can tell me more about it next time.
           
    8.get out of one's rut脱离不愉快的状况或无趣的例行公事 
           
    EX: Benji: I need to get out of this rut. I need a big change in my life. Everything is so boring.
          
     Linda: What don't you go to the States to study for a change?
          
     9.music to one's ears令人愉悦的消息或话语
           
    EX: Gina: Mom, we are coming home this Sunday. And your grandchildren are dying to see you and Dad.
           
    Mom: Oh, honey......that's music to my ears.
